I thought I'd let you know of a new forum for people who either have cochlear implant or know someone who does or works with those who have CI's

"The purpose of this site is to mainly become a source of information for people all alike - there are alot of misconceptions out there about cochlear implants and right now it is time to get the facts straight and right. "
It's nice to finally have a "positive attitude" type CI forum, because it seems that on 90% of the deaf forums out there, any talk about CI's turns into a war with people on each side of the fence trying to get the other side to listen and it just doesn't go anywhere. There are so many deaf individuals out there who liken CI's to genocide or the end of the Deaf World. It gets tiring, so it will be really nice (at least from my perspective!) to find a place where we can talk about CI's and our experiences without being flamed.

- I was diagnosed with sensorineural (nerve) deafness when I was 9 years old following a bout of bacterial meningitis. In the 24 years that followed, I learned to lipread, sign and wear hearing aids. However I always felt like a "fence straddler," neither fitting into the hearing world or the deaf world. I was approved for the clinical study for the Cochlear Nucleus System 4 (now called Freedom.) Implantation was January 24th 2005, and activated on April 12th 2005. And the experience continues...

Yeah I know I got lax with updating while busy with classes in college. Final exams are this week, and I go for a remapping on the 20'th so I'll give a big update on how everything is that week!!!

Can you share how you overcome your twitching problem eventually? Do you mean you have used only a few of the 22 electrodes eventually and that there is not much difference in the quality of your hearing?
Would be very keen to hear from you. Thanks!
